The Notre Dame Senior Girls soccer team started off their season strong with three wins in their first three league games. The Jugglers fought hard against WPGA, St. Pat’s, and LFA to win, while scoring plenty of goals.

Leading goalscorer Alex Roed scored 7 goals: one against WPGA in the first league game of the season, 3 against St. Pat’s, and another 3 in B.C Catholics.

The team has been strong on both offence and defence, and have been able to connect with each other on and off the field throughout the season.

Playing scrimmages at practice has helped them become more comfortable playing with each other, which plays a significant role in how they work together in games, as they are all coming from different clubs and teams.

The senior team played in the annual B.C Catholics in April. They had two games on Wednesday and Thursday, and one game on Friday. The jugglers ended up placing 5th out of 9 teams by beating LFA in shootouts to end the tournament.

This was a great opportunity for the team to gain even more experience playing with each other. It also helped the Jugglers prepare for the rest of the league schedule.

And it paid off!

For the first time in team history, the Jugglers won the league championship trophy for finishing first in the 5 team league.

Next up (after a well-earned bye week), the Jugglers will play in the zone championships from May 9th – 12th.

Provincials take place June 2nd – 4th at Burnaby Lake.
