For its second year, the Pre-Medical Education Club (PME) is up and running at Notre Dame! If you are someone who wants to pursue the medical field as a career or just want to learn more about it, the PME Club is for you.

Run by senior ND students, Connie Xie and Alysha Casaclang (with Ms. Hardy as the teacher sponsor) the meetings will take place every other Thursday via Zoom. In this club, you’ll explore the different types of fields in medicine, what it takes to get there, and all sorts of fun facts about science.

During the meetings, we will discuss possible careers and student interests. The meeting topics will be reflective of your interests, concerns and questions – and you’re not limited to the medical field! You can tell us about your passion to become an optometrist and some questions you have about what volunteering opportunities are available to you as a high school student. Anything that relates to your interests in the medical field or your future path to what a possible career might look like are open to discussion.

At Pre-Medical Club, we will also introduce you to all sorts of opportunities and events. An example of this is Operation Med School, a conference held at UBC for aspiring doctors to get to hear from current med-school students, surgeons, specialists, and doctors about what it takes to get to med school. We will also notify you about other conferences, scholarships, and volunteering opportunities that are going on.

This club offers a sneak peek into what it really means to study in the medical field; through PME, you will discover if this is a good career path for you. It is also a helpful place where you can ask us all your concerns and questions about high school, future paths, and university. We will try our very best to answer everyone.

The club will take your interests to heart and explore them with you. In this club, you’ll explore the different types of fields in medicine, what it takes to get there, and all sorts of fun facts about science.
